Our Base in Comox
49° 40'47"N 124° 58'10"W
Our town of Comox is located about mid-way on Vancouver Island's east coast and is easily accessible by land, sea or air. No matter which way you choose to travel, you'll be sure to enjoy the view along the way!
We are only 24 nautical miles from the Desolation Sound cruising grounds. The Comox area, referred to as the Comox Valley, and central Vancouver Island across to Desolation Sound, is a coastal marine environment with warm, dry summers and short, mild winters. The coldest month is January (not very cold!) and the warmest is usually July with average daily temperatures ranging from 70°F to 80°F. Comox and the Strait of Georgia are protected from rainstorms by the Vancouver Island mountain range, which deflects precipitation and causes a rain shadow throughout the area. The average rainfall is minimal from May to September ~ May 1.5"; June 1.4"; July 1.1"; August 1.7"; & September 2.0".
