Training and Certification
Live your dream
No literature is richer than that of the sea. No story is more enthralling, no tradition is more secure.
Desolation Sound yacht Charters offers International Yacht Certification. We are a registered International Yacht Training (IYT) and Canadian Recreational Yachting Association (CRYA) training center and provide a variety of courses to begin or increase your qualifications on the water.
Enjoy cruise and learn charters or explore your opportunity in the global marine industry. We have a variety of instruction programs to suit you.
Desolation Sound Yacht Charters (DSYC) offers special packages to qualify you for bareboat chartering. Imagine spending six glorious days cruising the beautiful Desolation Sound as you learn to operate a power or sailing yacht.
Courses are taught to international standards using either the Canadian Recreational Yachting Association (CRYA) or the International Yacht Training Worldwide (IYT) certification program. The goal of this certification is to enable you to cruise safely in local coastal waters as skipper in moderate wind and sea conditions by day.
Basic courses are designed for the novice boater and those with minimal experience on keel sailboats or displacement power yachts in tidal waters and no prerequisites are required. Courses are fun and informative. Students successfully completing the course can return to charter a similar vessel in the future.
Additional Offshore Courses
Basic sailing and power courses are offered on boats from 32 to 42 feet and are equipped with hot & cold pressure water, shower/head, propane stoves/ovens and BBQs. Full safety, navigation and galley equipment are standard. All boats have dinghies/tenders. Find the yacht that meets your needs at Sail Charter Fleet or Power Charter Fleet.
